26. Saving Private Ryan

This was a really touching film and an excellent viewing experience. Was Private Ryan Saved? Find out by watching Saving Private Ryan (1998). Here we have another Tom Hanks film on the IMDb list which is a testament to his skills as an actor. In Saving Private Ryan, a Spielberg film written by Robert Rodat, the audience gets to enjoy superb performances by Matt Damon and Tom Sizemore.

The film takes place in the aftermath of the Normandy Landings and a set of U.S. soldiers are given orders to get a paratrooper whose family have been notified that his brother was killed in action. To do this they have to go behind enemy lines.

This film really called on the audience’s humanity and helps them understand the tragedy of war from a distance and how it affects everyone differently. For the purposeful nature of the story telling I have scored this film: 67.
